40 years? Can’t believe it! I married my high school sweeetheart (Ted Mathiesen MHS ’65) in 1969 much to the dismay of my parents. We have lived in Mississippi, Georgia, Alabama, and now back in Georgia - consequently we have southern children! Both of our daughters were born in Georgia, (Brooke in 77, Sydney in 82) and fortunately for us they both still live here. Both girls completed college in the requisite four years and are now happily married. Brooke is expecting her first child in January. (Does that mean I will be a grandparent? Oh no!)

I finally graduated from college in 1974 and have since received 2 advanced degrees in education. After writing a paper in 10th grade for Mrs. Brady about what I did NOT want to do (be a teacher) I have been teaching business education forever. The favorite part of my job, however, is producing the yearbook. Ted graduated from Georgia Tech as a mechanical engineer; however, he has been working in the civil field building highways and bridges. In fact, he worked for a short time for SE Johnson in Maumee. What a small world it is!

Other than my family, my true passion is sewing. I made both of the girls’ wedding dresses—wow! I patted myself on the back each time I saw them as they began their trip down the aisle! Heirloom sewing enthralls me as does smocking and other intricate needle work.

When we moved back to Georgia in 1992, we built a beautiful home where we have been ever since. We have always had dogs—primarily Springer and cocker spaniels. The dog sharing our lives now is a 1 year old Springer spaniel – Raleigh. What a doll he is.

As if today (7/10) I will not be able to attend the reunion. I will, however, be thinking of all of you and wishing I could be there.
